They say "A picture is worth a thousand words" is certainly true of this book...Being 69 and becoming a baseball fan in 1958 at age 9, I've lived through many of the events portrayed in this book...Some even brought a small tear to my eye...Almost all of the pictures I'd never seen...A picture in 1939 of 10 living Hall of Famers together, just put me in awe...I just looked at that picture for 15 minutes at least...I mean there was Honus Wagner, Babe Ruth, Cy Young, and Walter Johnson posed together with 6 other HOFamers...Ty Cobb arrived late and missed the photo...But still what a piece of history...In the era of the 60's-70's my friends and I played baseball at every free moment...Before school, after school. weekends. all the time...Plus we always had a transistor radio on hand to listen to the games...I can't count how many times I fell asleep late at night listening to a game...Basically, we lived baseball...I was even fortunate enough to play against a future Major League pitcher named Gary Nolan who pitched for the Reds from 1967-77...BTW, my lone plate appearance against Gary I struck out...Gary Nolan's fastball even in high school was UN-hittable to us just ordinary players from small schools in Northern California...Seems like I remember reading he had eleven no hitters in High School...Sorry about speaking so much about myself but this book has brought back so many fond memories...Bottom line, anyone 50 or older should love this book and hopefully many that are younger will as well...It's just a treasure trove of events and fond memories...kd
I just looked at this book briefly as I was getting ready to wrap it for one of the gifts for my son. I have no doubt he is going to love this. It has so much history in it and is very current with pictures from this year. I would definitely recommend this for any baseball fan!
This was a gift for my father-in-law, who is difficult to buy a gift that he'll get some enjoyment from. He loves this book!

The cover was ripped along the bottom of the front. So disappointed, this was to be a gift for my father in law for Christmas. I'll have to see if I can repair it.
