I am learning sooo much from this book. I love the section about self taught makeup artists. Totally for me. Just packed with information that will help me with my career. I will be telling anyone who wants to know how to get started as a MUA about this book.
This book is a god send! It has everything you need to successfully start a makeup biz. I am just starting out as a freelance artist, after years of Esthetics and makeup counter experience, this book is genius! I highly recommend. Thank you for all the great info and please keep doing what your doing!

First of all, The Mercenary Makeup Artist is NOT about how to do makeup... there are plenty of other books for that (and this book even shows you which ones are the best)...What this book IS, is a quick and comprehensive guide to breaking into the business...with style. Witty and easy-to-read chapters are comprised of the author’s thoughts and her (solid) understanding of the industry. Kaylin also includes a plethora of recommended websites, online tutorials, makeup products, and business tools.My favorite parts of the book are how to assemble a kit and the "Mercenary Resources" (found in the appendix). Of course, I also liked how she covered what it’s like to do bridal makeup.Overall, this book has some great advice and resources for those curious about the makeup industry. The author’s main text is delightful and I found the supplemental material (supply lists, websites, etc.) to be of most value. I’ll definitely be using this book on more than one occasion!
I have read a lot, I mean a lot of ebooks on this subject and this eBook is the best thus far! I highly recommend this book to any beginner looking to branch out into her/his own MUA business. This covers it all from resources, protecting yourself and your business, what to expect, how to handle unruly clients, makeup application and much more! If there is an actual book I plan to purchase to keep it as a reference as I'm just starting out.
