Amazon.com Review
Joseph McMoneagle was one of the original remote viewers recruited into the military's Project Stargate, a once secret army project designed to use trained remote viewers for spying during the cold war. For the uninitiated, remote viewing (often referred to as RV) is a skill that allows a person (viewer) to envision events, people, or objects that are not within eyesight--in another room or in another country (and sometimes in the future). McMoneagle believes that anybody can be trained in remote viewing (no psychic gifts required). However, it requires a huge commitment and a highly disciplined mind. Using the analogy of martial arts, McMoneagle sees RV training in levels, starting with white belt where viewers can expect to see a gestalt (an overall impression) of a target. By the time readers reach the red-black belt-great master, McMoneagle claims they will have gained "a near-perfect union of one's paranormal talent blended within extant reality. People who reach this level no longer have to think about it, they simply do." Although readers won't become a great master by reading this one book, McMoneagle does provide a comprehensive training program as well as important chapters on the ethics, protocol, and applications of remote viewing. --Tara West

"Remote viewing" is the ability to perceive psychically and describe unknown objects, people, places, or events. McMoneagle (Mind Trek, The Ultimate Time Machine), a former U.S. Army officer who worked for the Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM), was recruited for the top-secret remote-viewing program known as STARGATE. Other books on this subject (e.g., Jim Schnabel's Remote Viewers, Dell, 1997; David Morehouse's Psychic Warrior, St. Martin's, 1996) are more biographical; McMoneagle instead offers basic definitions, examples, and qualifications that would be needed by the potential remote viewer. The second half of the book includes detailed training methods, technical applications, and protocols omitted in his previous titles. Because there is a lot of new information here, this is recommended for larger public and academic libraries.-Kimberly A. Bateman, Broward Cty. During the summer of 2006, I was trained by a person (ex-military) who had been a part of the Stargate project during the cold war era. He taught a group of us some of the same techniques that Joseph mentions in his book. Hand drawings, molding clay images based on sensing and other modalities were all used to correctly identify targets around the world. Most were not government sanctioned or considered to be official targets by any means but, as a group of around 20 people, we were able to identify locations through commonly recognized images, thoughts, smells, temperatures, tastes, sounds, etc. Josephs book is well written and most assuredly based on actual experiences. One special note: When RVing is used to attain higher truths, rescues and other humanitarian interests, all went well. I would caution anyone going into this thinking that they would be able to use these techniques for personal gain .
While Mr. McMoneagle de-mystified "Project STARGATE", he gave real insight to "remote viewing". When I get the book I was trying to expand my own psychic abilities. This is not a teaching guide per say but an explanation from a "non-psychic". However, there are some "tools" to work with whether you're a psychic or a paranormal investigator, the protocols are a tool worthy of any investigation or psychic work.
The author who was involved in military applications of 'remote viewing' spends more time explaining why they disregard so much information etc than he does explaining how things are done. In fact, due to their need to make sure the results always followed Scientific Protocol the book never really seemed to get to the point in the first 3/4's of the book and my wife didn't bother to finish it. She found the book 'Psychic Tarot' much more helpful & covered the application of the techniques much better without unrealistic scientific expectations that are prominent in this book. My wife originally bought the book because she read the author claimed that any one could learn to do 'remote viewing' without any previous psychic abilities showing themselves. However, during the course of reading the book she found the opposite opinion of the author to be true. It basically came across that most of the work the military did regarding this came to the conclusion that the results were too vague and did not live up to expectations (scientific expectations of solid consistent methods to acquire identical results).
Joseph McMoneagle's books are absolutely the best I have read on remote viewing. I have read several of his books while doing research on the old Stargate military program of the 1990's. There are other remote viewers who were also involved with the program, but Joseph McMoneagle's accounts are my favorite research tools. This is fascinating.
Disappointing. Great guidelines---in fact really good info on this. Only there are no techniques whatsoever---the "how to" stuff. Did he forget to put that part in? I now know what to do and what not to do and what to expect and what percentage is reality for success but I received no how to training. So when I receive a how to book I'll make sure I apply the what to do and what not to do aspect.
This book was well written and gave a good scientific framework in which to explain the subject. I usually find "psychic" stuff hard to swallow because there is not enough explanation and too much presumption. This is a lot more logical and I think, also helps to provide a framework for testing reality in life itself. You could say that it was spiritual on many levels depending on how far you want to go. The book also explains the limitations which is an important aspect in any of this type of work and so I praise the author for grounding us in physical reality at every stage of the book. Remote Viewing is hard work and just like everything else, if you wish to get good at it, requires persistence and time.
I was trained by Joe as well as one other "Ft Mede connected" viewer. Joe deserves all the accolades we can put on him. If you ever get the opportunity to meet and train with Joe, jump on it. You will never regret it. This book is "Pure Joe" in terms of the style of writing. His style of doing RV is phenomenal to say the least.
If the author is "McMoneagle", you can count on the topic of Remote Viewing being accurately and thoroughly covered in the book. This is no exception. What I learned in this book has resulted in improving my abilities as a Remote Viewer. After all, you're getting the information literally from the horse's (Eagles?) mouth. Joe was Remote Viewer #1, selected for his inherent skills, and then developed into an intelligence powerhouse. You can't go wrong on this one.
